Grants Awarded to Variety of Projects, Nelson Says

HARRISBURG – Rep. Eric Nelson (R-Westmoreland) today announced more than $325,000 in Local Share Account (LSA) grants from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for projects in the 57th Legislative District.

“These grants will help fund needed improvements in our community,” Nelson said. “It’s great to see gaming funds come back to our area. It eases the financial burden on local governments and non-profits to upgrade equipment and enhance services. Thank you to Senator Ward for her support of these important projects.”

Those receiving grants are:

• Economic Growth Connection of Westmoreland – $1,133 to update telephone equipment at two Blackburn Center locations in the city of Greensburg.
• Economic Growth Connection of Westmoreland – $12,750 to complete a market study in Hempfield Township for the construction of a new multi-sport facility.
• City of Greensburg – $68,392 to purchase a new Ford F350 truck to be used by the recreation department.
• Hempfield Township – $60,974 to purchase new emergency service equipment for Mutual Aid Ambulance Service.
• South Greensburg Borough – $69,150 to replace the boiler and controls at its municipal building, which houses the municipal offices, and fire and police departments.
• Youngwood Borough – $112,865 to upgrade the Youngwood Borough Recreational Complex to include fencing, bleachers, lights and the field.
